May brings with it a special occasion, cherished by families around the world: Mother’s Day. This annual celebration serves as a reminder to appreciate the women who have shaped our lives with their love, wisdom, and nurturing spirit. In residential aged care homes across Australia, Mother’s Day takes on a unique significance as residents, staff, families and friends come together to celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, and maternal figures who enrich their communities with warmth and compassion.
For many of our residents, Mother’s Day holds a deep sentimental value, evoking cherished memories of times spent with loved ones. It is a day to reflect on the invaluable role that mothers, female role models, and mentors play in our lives.
Our Mother’s Day High Tea was an opportunity for all residents to participate in heartfelt conversation and reminiscence activities, sharing stories and laughter, as they honoured the remarkable women who have touched their hearts. Mother’s Day is also a time for communities to come together and celebrate the matriarchs who hold families together with strength and grace.
At Leigh Place, we also see Mother’s Day as an occasion to extend our gratitude to the dedicated caregivers who provide compassionate support to our residents each day. From nurses and personal care assistants to activities coordinators, volunteers and those work hard behind the scenes, our staff embody the spirit of kindness and empathy that we associate with this annual celebration.
